Cosmic Girls Monthly Hangout – June

Cosmic Girls Monthly Hangout – June

*** Inviting all Cosmic Girls to boldly explore what it means to Befriend YourSelf. This is an empowering monthly meet-up for girls ages 10-14 providing nourishment, navigation skills, and meaningful connections as our girls make the rite of passage into adolescence and beyond. This heroine’s journey to full expression and authenticity is a time of great celebration, potential, and initiation that can be bolstered through the portals of connection, wisdom, and creativity. When we tap into this mandala and its petals of self-discovery, clarity, courage, all-inclusivity, truth, and Love we create a safe, supportive space for ourselves and others to blossom into fullness. Each month the girls will connect with like-minded friends, myself, and a rotating cosmic Sister guest facilitator as we create an enlivening andnurturing environment to immerse ourselves in a myriad of experiences including mindfulness, meditation, music, creative expression, yoga, herbs, crystals, essential oils, nature, food, and fun!! It takes a sisterhood! Join us this month as we collaberate with our Cosmic Sister, Shannon Plummer for an...

Children’s Meditation for EveryOne

Children’s Meditation for EveryOne

Meditation is a powerful adeptness for anyone and we are learning that when we practice meditation and mindfulness as children, the collective ripples on a physical, emotional and universal level are profound. On a physical level, scientific studies have found that meditation: * increases levels of immunity * prevents and/or reduces cancer and autoimmune disorders * improves hyperactivity and attention deficit disorders * alleviates respiratory disorders and digestive problems * reduces the severity of asthma and panic attacks On a mental and emotional level, experts have found that meditation: * encourages a healthy sense of self * promotes well being and self-esteem * remedies bullying * reduces submission to negative peer pressure * increases focus, concentration and problem solving skills * fosters awareness and creativity * instills connection, understanding, and compassion On a Universal level, many believe that meditation is a large part of the solution for world peace. When we are at peace with ourselves and no longer fighting a physical, mental, or emotional war, we can be...

Creating a Mind Jar

Creating a Mind Jar

A Mind Jar is a great visual tool to help children and adults understand Mindfulness. It symbolizes just how busy our minds and bodies can be with thought and sensation much of which goes unnoticed. We often make Mind Jars in class. I invite kids to share emotions or sensations that we can potentially feel with our bodies and minds. Their replies may be experiences like ‘excitement’, ‘sadness’, ‘anger’, ‘fidgety’, ‘nervous’, ‘sleepy’, or ‘jumpy’. We add glitter for each answer they offer (I do try to have different colors). I explain that our minds can be very busy as I shake the jar. Then I share that if we can just become still it settles. I set the jar down and we watch the glitter settle together. Mind Jars are great to have at home or in class. When a child (or adult) needs calming he or she can shake the mind jar and watch and breath while it settles. For an added effect you can use glitter glue....
