A Kid’s Revolution

Posted by on Dec 31, 2015 in General, Mindful Parenting, Mindfulness & Meditation | 0 comments

A KIDS REVOLUTION Let’s ignite a Kids Revolution A detour from the delusion Where no child is left behind In a world where Kids are celebrated, not just tolerated, But elevated As the gift they are in every season. For every reason create a society where We listen, hear, and do not fear But believe Their words, wisdom, screams, cries, and reactions Rather than squash their dreams, stuff their emotions, And drug their imperfections. Let’s start a Kids Revolution Where corporations and jobs Acknowledge and respect That children are here rather than Pretending, offending With their never ending Job demands that leave our latchkey Children left out. Let’s ignite...

(an excerpt from my book Indigena: A Novel Celebrating the Spirit Of Cinco De Mayo by Cynthia Dawn)   “I thought of a story Aguíla told me when I was little girl when we walked hand in hand through the forest at sunrise with twigs crackling willingly beneath our feet. “On another land, there are children of the earth, just like you and me, Little Flower,” he would say in his intoned storytelling voice that was like wings that wrapped me, lifted me up, and carried me far away. “They are our hermanos, brothers, and hermanas, sisters. Their ancestors are our ancestors. And these people of the earth love...

It’s February – the month of LOVE – and if we contemplate – ‘What is LOVE’ we know that answer is infinite. Love is integral and vital – we know it when we feel it but to contain such grandiosity within the conceptual world of words is not possible.  Yet the more we articulate our experiences in celebration of Love and its many forms perhaps the pulsation will continue to expand its omnipresence. When I became a mother I experienced Love in such a deeply pure and profound way that it was and remains to be life-changing. The bond is nothing short of miraculous. In being present with my daughter...

5 Reasons Why Cinco De Mayo is Relevant

Posted by on May 5, 2015 in General | 0 comments

Most believed this to be an impossibility!   Just for preface, Napoleon III and his army had invaded Mexico after breaking a treaty agreement. They were fighting their way to Mexico City with an agenda to overthrow the government and rule Mexico. Puebla was the last geographical obstacle and its subordinate troops were...
